Lucy in the Sky is legit. I know it can be hard to tell these days which brands are real and which ones are just a front, especially when hundreds of companies are constantly running Instagram ads. Trust me—there are so many fake or sketchy businesses advertising on Reddit and Insta. At the same time, those platforms can also be a goldmine for discovering great new brands if you know what to look for.
If you’re like me, you probably first came across Lucy in the Sky on Pinterest or Instagram. The aesthetic is very “that girl,” and it almost feels too good to be true. But good news: the brand is real. You can shop through their app or website, and they even have a physical store in Los Angeles. Yes—an actual storefront! It’s located near the UCLA campus, which makes sense given their trendy, college-girl vibe.
The in-store selection is definitely smaller than what you’ll find online, but going in person was still worth it. I had already ordered a few pieces online, and being able to try things on IRL helped me understand their sizing a lot better. The dress shown below was an online order. It fit true to size overall, but if you’re busty, it can feel a bit tight. Personally, I wouldn’t be afraid to size up—especially for mini dresses.
And when they say mini, they really mean mini. Short, flirty, and definitely a statement. Risky? Maybe. Cute? Absolutely.

I did want to call out the skirt below. I originally bought it from a different seller on Amazon, but Lucy in the Sky appears to sell the same one as well. That’s not an issue at all—just a reminder to always check around if you’re shopping on a budget. You might be able to find the same item for less elsewhere.

I ended up buying a gown in person for a premiere, and it was absolutely fabulous. Not to brag, but it definitely turned heads—lots of compliments and more than a few stares. That experience alone sold me on shopping in-store when possible. Being able to try on dresses in person makes a huge difference, especially with a brand like Lucy in the Sky, where the fits can be a little unpredictable.
I highly recommend visiting the store if you’re able to, particularly if you’re shopping for an event or something more formal. You’ll get a much better sense of how the fabric stretches, where the dress hits, and whether it’s comfortable enough to wear for hours. If you’re shopping from home, though, my biggest tip is to size up. Many of their dresses run snug, and sizing up can save you from an unnecessary return.
Speaking of returns, the last time I checked, Lucy in the Sky only offered store credit for returns made through their website or in-store purchases. That may have changed since then, but it’s something to keep in mind before ordering. If you’re purchasing through Amazon, the return process may be different thanks to Amazon’s own policies.
