Finding low-rise jeans when you’re under 5 feet tall is…an experience.
I recently tried on the PacSun Casey Low Rise Jeans in a size 26, and if you’re around my size (I’m just under 5 feet tall, 95 pounds, with wider hips), here’s exactly how they fit.
The size 26 actually wasn’t a bad fit. They were a little loose, especially around the waist, but I honestly preferred that over sizing down. I could already tell there was no way a 25 would sit comfortably as a true low-rise jean if these shrink even a little after washing. If you have hips like I do, a tighter low-rise waistband can get uncomfortable pretty quickly.
I didn’t even bother trying on the size 27 because I could tell they would’ve been huge on me.
The only thing I noticed with the 26 was a small gap in the back of the waistband. It wasn’t anything dramatic, though. I think you could easily fix it with a belt, or honestly just throw on an oversized graphic tee and you’d never notice it.
Should You Get a 25 or 26?
If you’re basically my size, here’s what I’d recommend:
- Size 25: Better if you want a more fitted look and don’t mind a snugger waistband.
- Size 26: Better if you like a relaxed low-rise fit, especially if you have wider hips. I’m personally leaning toward this size and just hoping they shrink ever so slightly in the wash. If not, a belt solves the tiny waist gap.
The Biggest Warning: DO NOT Buy the Regular Length if You’re Short

Seriously.
Whatever you do, don’t get the regular inseam if you’re under 5 feet tall.
They are wayyyyyy too freaking long.
I’m talking not wearable long unless you’re planning to get them hemmed. Even with shoes, they completely overwhelmed my frame. If you’re petite like me, save yourself the trip to the tailor and just buy the Short inseam.
My recommendation is simple: get the size 26 Short and hope they shrink just a tiny bit after washing, or wear a belt if the waist feels a little roomy. If you prefer your jeans tighter, go with the 25 Short, but just know it may not be the most comfortable option if you’re petite with wider hips.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the fit. The sizing wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I expected—it really just comes down to choosing between a slightly relaxed fit (26) or a more fitted one (25). Just don’t make the mistake of ordering the regular length if you’re under 5 feet tall.
