L’Oréal Hair Mask Review for Dry, Damaged & Curly Hair

As someone who straightens their hair often, I have to say I am a true victim of split ends. No matter how careful I try to be, the damage always seems to show up eventually. Not only do I get split ends, but random pieces of my hair end up more fried than others, which makes my hair look uneven and unhealthy. I’m pretty sure this happens because I do more passes with the straightener on certain face-framing sections than the rest of my hair. Those pieces are always the hardest to get just right, so they end up taking the most heat damage. Overall, I’m just not happy with super dry, brittle hair that lacks shine and softness.

After a while, my hair starts to look like it’s desperately begging for a big chop. And honestly, who wants to cut their hair after finally reaching their length goals? Definitely not me. It’s frustrating to put in so much time growing your hair out, only to feel like you have to sacrifice inches just to make it look healthy again.

If you have curly hair—or even straight hair that sees frequent use of heat tools like hair straighteners and curling irons—you probably struggle with the same issues I do. Heat damage can sneak up on you, and before you know it, your hair feels rough, dry, and lifeless. That’s exactly why I went on the hunt for an affordable hair mask that could actually make a noticeable difference. I wanted something that would leave my hair feeling soft, hydrated, and smooth while also making it look healthier overall.

More importantly, I wanted to step out of the shower and immediately notice a difference without having to layer on a bunch of extra leave-in products afterward. I didn’t want my routine to feel heavy or complicated—I just wanted my hair to feel good again. I have to say, this tub has truly made a difference. My hair feels softer, looks less damaged, and has more life to it than before. And as a bonus? Yes, it smells amazing.

What’s to Love

This mask tub is huge, which was honestly one of the first things I noticed. You really don’t have to use a lot of product at all to see results, which makes it even better. Not to be dramatic, but I probably won’t need to buy another hair mask for a good 7–8 months if I continue using this one just once or twice a week. A little goes a long way, and it spreads easily through my hair without feeling heavy or greasy.

It also smells amazing—like the kind of scent that makes your entire shower feel more luxurious. I especially love using it after washing my hair with a clarifying shampoo. That combination is perfect because my scalp feels super clean and refreshed, while my hair gets the deep moisture it desperately needs. A fresh scalp paired with soft, hydrated hair is truly chef’s kiss.

One of my favorite things about this mask is how well it defines my curls. It brings them back to life and makes them look so shiny, healthy, and bouncy. For a long time, I really struggled to love my curls because they always looked way too dry and dull, no matter what I tried. This mask has honestly been a miracle for them. My curls feel softer, look more defined, and actually hold their shape without feeling weighed down. It’s made such a difference that I finally feel confident embracing my natural texture again.

How to Use It

You can use it as a leave in, rinse-out, or co-wash. I like to leave it in my hair for 5 minutes then rinse it out in the shower.
